Town’s U18s fell to a 3-1 defeat to Colchester United in a friendly at Playford Road on Thursday afternoon. Northern Irish U17 international midfielder Cormac Burke put the young Blues in front before a brace from Freddie Ladapo and a strike from Michael Rafter gave the U’s victory in a game played in three thirds.

Murphy, who is yet to win his first full cap, has been involved in an Irish training camp in Dublin this week with coach Giovanni Trapattoni including him in his revised squad for next week’s matches.
